Spending a Weekend on the Landsberger Hut on 21-22.07.2024

The Landsberger Hut (1810m) is a mountain hut located near Tannheim. It can be reached from the valley in about 2-3 hours of hiking if you choose the direct path as we did this time.

Landsberger Hut Sideprofile

We started the hike from the ski parking lot in Tannheim and walked our way to the Vilsalpsee. After passing some local farms and a small chapel, we reached the Vilsalpsee, where we took a short break and enjoyed the view.

Vilsaplsee

From there, the ascent directly to the hut is starting. The Vilsalpsee is slowly getting smaller as you climb up the mountain and after about 3 hours and some llamas, you reach the next lake Traualpsee. From this location you can already see the Landsberger Hut in the distance.

Traualpsee

After reaching the Landsberger Hut, we enjoyed the view and the sun on the terrace, grabbed something to drink and regained some energy. It was rather early in the day, and the weather was still stable, so we decided to climb the nearby Schochenspitze (2069m) in the afternoon. In the image below, the Schochenspitze is visible on the left side of the image. The lake in front is the local lake of the Landsberger Hut, called Lache.

Traualpsee

The climb to the Schochenspitze was rather easy and took us round trip about 1,5 hours. Almost all the time you can see the Landsberger Hut, the Traualpsee and the Vilsalpsee from above.

Traualpsee

This concludes the first day of our trip and we spent the evening in the hut, enjoying the good food and the company of the other guests.

On the second day, we decided to hike back to the valley and take a different route via the lake Haldensee and the village with the same name. We chose this route mostly because the weather has shifted to rain and fog and we wanted to avoid any steep descents in the rain. Therefore, we stuck to paved forest roads and reached the valley in about 3 hours. From Haldensee, we followed the paved pedestrian path back to Tannheim. Due to the rainy weather, we did not take pictures on the second day.
